Our mission is to recruit, train, and activate everyday people to see their own power and meaningfully engage in systems change with a sense of urgency.
ASAP is a community-based call-to-action organization whose radical vision is abolishing systems of harm like our present-day carceral system, and organizing to replace them with systems that heal and center humanity. We execute this through educating and training everyday citizens (Ella Jo Baker Movement School) on the fundamentals of community organizing. ASAP Boots on the Ground organizing has helped produce hundreds of strategic campaigns that have resulted in policy change, election wins, litigation, base-building, resource allocation, and a new generation of people first leaders.
Our vehicle for change is what we call the “Root Cause Framework” as brought to life by the “Ella Baker approach”. This approach is driven by building leadership in people deeply impacted by the very systems we seek to change.
Our Beliefs:
- We believe in building community and know that every individual carries immense value for this cause and the world in general.
- We are people-centered, and greatly center self-care and recognizing humanity in every struggle and situation.
- We believe in the power of the great people of The Deep South, particularly those in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and E. Texas to lead this nation’s next people’s movement.
